See the "Get Started" button? You are going to want to click that button! Once you've clicked the button Cambly will request some basic information and you can create an account. Next, you will set up your profile. On your profile, you'll have the opportunity to list your qualifications, interests, experiences with English, and teaching style so that students can get to know you a little better. Cambly will also ask you to film a short introduction video for potential students to view before choosing you as a tutor.
Tips for the Introduction Video:
Speak slowly and clearly so beginner students can easily understand you.
State a few of your qualifications (native speaker, English tutor, TEFL certified, etc.).
List some of your interests (cooking, traveling, learning languages, reading, etc.). Many students are interested in practicing their English conversation skills and are looking for tutors with similar passions who they can engage in conversation.
If you have time, mention your teaching style, your preferred level to teach (beginner, intermediate, advanced), and if you have any special skills (help with accents, pronunciation, grammar, business/medical vocabulary, etc.).
Keep your video short and straight to the point. Ideally, your video should be around 1 minute in length.
Once you have completed your tutor profile and introduction video you are all set! Cambly will review your profile and video to determine if you are a good fit for the platform and notify you by email. Cambly hires as the demand for tutors increases on their platform so do not be alarmed if you do not hear back right away. This is Cambly's way of ensuring that their current tutors have adequate bookings and their new tutors can quickly meet new students upon hire. Once you are hired Cambly will email you and make your account active. From here you are ready to sign up for priority hours and make time slots available for student reservations!
